Gerald McCullouch attacked on New York subway
“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” actor Gerald McCullough has done some real life crime fighting recently when he boxed a robber while riding a subway from JFK airport.
The 41-year-old actor was on a train about 2 a.m. from the New York airport when a large man tried to grab his laptop. McCullough, a trained boxer, struck the man on the chest to ward him off.
James Torres, the 39-year-old 6-foot-3 and 240 pound thief, then pulled a kitchen knife out of a black plastic bag. The other passengers started running to the next car, the New York Daily News reported.
McCullough told the news site, “I still had my headphones on with music blaring. I yelled at the top of my lungs, ‘Get the [bleep] away from me!’ That’s when the knife came down into my back. I don’t know whether he lost his grip or what, but the blade didn’t penetrate my leather jacket.”
He said he punched Torres again when train stopped halfway out of the station and ten cops jumped on the train and arrested the guy.
Torres was charged with robbery, assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. The actor was told that he may be the same guy who stabbed two cops.
McCullough plays ballistic expert Bobby Dawson in the hit CBS crime show since its first season.
