47 year old super model Carol Alt posed nude for a photo spread in December’s Playboy magazine. Alt said that she chose to bare all for the magazine to highlight the raw diet she adopted over 12 years ago. She said:
“I’ve done a lot of soul-searching about this and have spoken extensively with Playboy about it. They have been amazing to work with and are embracing this message that I want to get across, which is eat healthy, look healthy and be healthy. It doesn’t matter what age you are. You can look sexy and feel great, and that doesn’t have to be a gift only for the young. It can be a gift for any age, even the old (whatever that is nowadays).”
It was a decision that didn’t come easily, considering what was at stake, personally and professionally. She said “I just never thought to do it”. “There’s a saying I always remember when I started working: At 20, you have the face you’re born with, at 30 you have the face you work for and at 50 you have the face you deserve.”
Ms. Alt says posing nude at her age - she turns 48 in two weeks - “ain’t easy,” but she adds, “it’s only easy if you have an edge and my edge is raw food.” She has been on a strict raw food regimen for 14 years.
“The reason I showed my body is because my body would not have been like this if it hadn’t been for the fact that I had gone raw,” says Ms. Alt, adding that before she had a physical makeover with a raw food diet, she was overweight, bloated and always felt bad.
Despite being a legendary model since the 1980s who has been a Sports Illustrated cover star, this Playboy pictorial marks Alt’s first ever nude photo spread. Alt admitted on her website that she was always self-conscious about her body and stated she had to work hard at keeping a trim figure.
Alt’s ex-husband, former New York Rangers hockey player Ron Greschner, made some disparaging remarks about her decision to pose for Playboy. He said:
“I have no interest in seeing a 50-year-old woman naked. My wife right now is 40 and hot, after five kids.”

By posing for Playboy, 47-year-old Carol Alt wants to send that message that you can be sexy at any age. According to Ottawa Citizen, she wants “people to know that after 40, it’s not the end of your life. Life goes on. You can feel good, look good, be beautiful and sexy and that’s all an attitude which comes from health.”
Carol Alt attributes has been following a raw foods diet regimen for over ten years. She attributes her healthy fit body to her healthy lifestyle and raw foods diet. When posing for Playboy, she refused to let the photographers retouch her photos. She wanted to show a realistically attainable body, flaws and all but still healthy and attractive.
