Kara DioGuardi- American Idol’s 4th Judge

Talented, grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi has been chosen to be American Idol’s fourth judge!

“We are turning the heat up on ‘Idol’ this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges’ table,” creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said in a statement released to Access. “She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America’s most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show.”

Kara has writing credits on hundreds of songs, including the Jonas Brothers’ “Play My Music,” Faith Hill’s “Lost,” and tracks by artists ranging from Britney Spears to Kylie Minogue.

Kara DioGuardi’s Wikipedia page describes her as “an American songwriter, record producer, and singer who has contributed to a long list of internationally successful popular songs” — she grew up in Westchester, New York, attended Duke University, and worked in marketing and publishing at Billboard Magazine.
