Dylan’s Candy Bar of Dylan Lauren

dylan’s candy barDylan’s Candy Bar situated on Third Avenue and 60th Street and is run by Ralph Lauren’s daughter Dylan Lauren and the store is considered the closest thing to Willy Wonka in the real life. The store features all different types of candy and is meant to appeal to any candy love, especially the beautiful young New York socialite.

The outside blends right into the Manhattan street where it sits on the corner of 60th and Third Avenue. Its large windows only hint of what is inside and is decorated with headless models wearing the logo tee shirts (creepy?) and gift baskets bursting with colorful candy.

As it now becomes the kid magnet and tourist destination and it seems that the bar isn’t enormous enough, a third level for private parties is added , and their first and second floors are expanding. The renovations are expected to be complete at the end of February.

As a biography, Dylan Lauren was born on May 1974 in New York City, so her age is 33. She is the daughter of clothing designer Ralph Lauren and Ricky Lauren. Dylan graduated from Duke University in 1996 as an art history major.

Ask Men ranks Lauren 2nd on the list of hot billionaire daughters, just below Ivanka Trump. She also made Forbes‘ list of the 20 Most Intriguing Billionaire Heiresses in 2007.

Dylan opened her store Dylan’s Candy Bar in October 2001. There are now four locations, in New York, Long Island, Houston and Orlando. She is looking to open more stores in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Hawaii, and the New York store is going to be expanded to include a fondue bar and a spa.

The store in New York is a two-story wonderland with every kind of sweet stuff you an imagine, from Bazooka Gum to Dylan’s own gourmet chocolate bars. She wanted to open a candy store even since she saw “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” on her fifth birthday.

Dylan says her success comes from people’s love of candy, and her father’s advice.

“We attract all ages. Kids like candy, because it’s fun and sweet. For adults, it’s comfort food and reminds them of happy times. …He told me if you have a dream, do it, because you’ll do your best, and find the energy to do the things that you are passionate about.”

Of all the candy in the store, she recommends the Red Australian Licorice if you haven’t tried it. Though Dylan understands the importance of healthful moderation, she also knows that sometimes you just need a something sweet in life.
